Week 5 the 8th of April

This morning I have received further information and details on the upcoming event we will be working on with our team. It is also very educational since we will be focussing on collecting data on family offices in the European Union, and I had never heard about these offices and was assigned to collect data from Poland. I really appreciate my supervisor’s effort to help me integrate my mother language at the working space, since I can use some help and guidance and this is a very effective way from my perspective. So I started gathering the data asked from me and shared the google document with my supervisor so he can see my progress.

For the past couple of weeks, I have been able to see which macro-economic factors and policies are driving the business model of Vision Factory forward. For PLO1 I have decided to create a draft version of the model that I will hand in at the end of my 10-week internship, and ask my supervisor for feedback on it to see whether I am on the right path. See the screenshot below for the draft version.

I have asked my supervisor for feedback and will integrate it in the final version.

In the evening I have had dinner with my peers Konstantinos and Bart who also are stranded in the Netherlands, which was very nice. We had the opportunity to talk about the PLO’s and how everyone is progressing during their internship, and what everyone also struggles with. Dinner was gnocci made by Chris the guy in the middle on the picture below.

Week 5 the 7th of April

Since no further information has been forwarded to me about the event, I have continued working recruiting via VF’s LinkedIn and offering online courses and remote internships.

Moreover, I updated my WordPress based on daily notes I have been taking (motivation peak of the last 10 working days) Also, today I worked from my friend’s home who works remotely at the headquarter of Bruna this way we stimulated each other as I started to lose more and more motivation every day I start to feel unwell in my own skin, and begin to rethink whether continuation my internship this way is the way forward. The good part about it is that I instantly would stop working about this semester, however, the bad part is that I would lose the opportunity to finish my internship where not everyone had this opportunity and its actually a privilege. Since the smartest way forward is by continuing I bought myself a small desk at IKEA and put it at Mandy’s place from which we can work together. To be honest I could also have worked from home, but i can not change the way I am not motivated at home. So whenever I will find myself in this situation of no motivation to work from home I will join Mandy at her place and work in with her company and her home.

Week 5 the 6th of April

As my supervisor announced, today he sent an email with more information saying we will be working on promoting events for a company. He is going to send us more information as soon as he receives it from the organizer, for now, he sent us an agenda/time table so we can get familiar with the event and company which we will be working on. The company is called REDEDASIA and the event is called ‘’MRI shoulder and knee workstation workshop‘’.

I was getting familiar with the company and event I will be working on in the next couple of days. I also had aa group video call of 40 minutes with Ms. Floor and one of the students Ivan who’s doing his internship in Bulgaria on how the situation progresses and what kind of obstacles we bump into regarding our internship. It was nice to hear from a different students that they also try their best to make the most out of the situation.

Week 4 the 3rd of April

Together with Sascha, we have come up with two implementation plans step by step for the strategies to stimulate the working environment of both the employees and interns who decided to continue their internship remotely (both in Spain and those who decided to go back home) and stay in touch to maintain the relationship with regular customers who contribute to the majority of revenue generated in the past 12 months, which the company cannot afford to lose during this crisis. Sascha has sent the proposal to our supervisor to revise and give us feedback. Working together with Sascha is quiet motivating, the both of us ask each other also questions related to personal life which put the both of us at ease, and we finally start to talk about stuff that is not work related. Teamwork is definitely a key asset of mine and working again with someone so different than myself with a different background contributes to my knowledge of people which I am very satisfied with when I reflect on myself. Next time I will definitely try again to work in team with someone that is far from the same as I am. However, if I find myself in situation like this one once more I will definitely take the same approach as this time.

Such a relief when 6 hours ahead of the deadline together with my colleagues we informed our supervisor about the complete lead generation with 500 relevant companies, a contact person (manager) and https// to the managers’ profile. He has asked us to go through all of the information once more, to see if no grammar errors had been made by one of us.

Also, has Piotr announced a new project of which we will be more informed about on Monday morning, and did I make sure I reported weeks progress to Piotr via mail.

Week 4 the 2nd of April

One of my colleagues who was helping with finalizing lead generation, finished her internship (remotely) this week meaning the rest of us who are working on it need to subdivide her quantity among as before the deadline of tomorrow at 18:00. I have also updated the firms, pictures, content, and information on Vison Factories LinkedIn according to recent and relevant information on the request of my supervisor. (Used some of the content created by marketing interns to highlight their work).

Via the companies premium account, I have been to explore all the features you get access to if you take the monthly subscription. Now I understand why many recruiters work via LinkedIn as there are many possibilities to find the perfect match for a position at a company, even in this time of crisis.

I will also take a few minutes of your (reader) time to complain about the length of Adam Khoo videos on stocks. 1 hour and 30 minutes are way too long for me to keep my focus, I am lucking I can pause the video and look through my notes. Also, it is one out of ten videos meaning there are 15 hours of videos and notes for me to absorb. I will mainly focus on my internship tasks and use the time left for self-study on stock investments.

A funny fact I also shaved my head almost bold (3 milometers) as no hairdresser salon is open nowadays till the first of June.

Week 4 the 1st of April

Today I have had a meeting with the crisis management team set up by my supervisor based of Sascha’s and mine idea to come to creative solution during the pandemic, which includes my supervisor, his partner, Sascha and myself. The idea behind the CMT is to see what we as HR are up against too, what challenges are we facing in this crisis, and what can we do for both our clients and customers. Not so long ago was I asked to send out a questionnaire to our colleagues to measure their motivation in this changing situation and sum up and report the final results to my supervisor. The results were the founding bloc for my supervisor to launch the CMT. I feel like my supervisor is really listening to what I have to say and that is encouraging. Creating such a team opens up new oppertunities for some, however, closes t others which is unfortunate. However, we have to be optimistic and work towards the best. It is also an idea to include more employees than two seniors and two interns, if the virus will have its second wave it would be smart to incorporate more experienced employees instead of interns like myself. Although this is a great learning opportunity.

After our meeting, Sacha and I were asked to work together and contact the regular customers and let them know that as a company we are strictly following government restrictions to prevent the further spread of the virus and that we are looking forward to picking up our cooperation after the restrictions are lifted. Together we have decided to write an email/newsletter to all companies in the VF database who have been involved in cooperation or used the firm’s service more than 2 times in the past 12 months. Also, have we come up with devise strategies to get the company and all of its employees through these difficult times as soon as possible. Our supervisor has given us quite a lot of freedom, however, Sacha was very goal oriented. and wanted to have as much done as possible in the first few hours.

Week 4 the 31st of March

Today’s tasks are a continuation of lead generation to meet the deadline. I Have also had a phone call with my supervisor on how to continue with the company’s LinkedIn and whether it is still worth it to invest our time in recruiting new people. The phone call came down to integrating the opportunity of working remotely and offering internships in some of the departments within the company, which do not require physical presence at the office and where everything can be discussed via a video call and/or mail.

After having a chat with Bart and doing some research I have decided to swiftly shift my training courses by adding video courses by Adam Khoo. Adam Khoo is a professional stock & Forex trader, award-winning entrepreneur, best-selling author, and peak performance specialist. A self-made millionaire by the age of 26, he is the founder of the Piranha Profits online trading school. On YouTube, you can find a video of himself explaining in detail how the stock world works interactively. Watching the videos might be more challenging than expected as the length of the videos is 1 hour and 30 minutes average.

Week 4 the 30th of March

Last Friday I was supposed to report my last week’s progress to Piotr, however, I forgot to do so and I received a call by my supervisor on Saturday asking if I could still do so. I felt kind of ashamed for forgetting to do that fortunately, I already had my documents ready to send were minor adjustments had to be made. This was a valuable lesson for me to work on my Punctuality/Time management as I stated in my Personal Learning Plan

I have been asked to continue working on lead-generation for the biostimulants event of which the new deadline is the upcoming Friday. My goal is to have at least 50 relevant companies noted down, to meet the deadline of 500 by the end of the week included my colleague’s work.

Nonetheless, I’m following video courses on analyses and trading, made up of 10 videos each, which breaks up the category in segments easier to understand. This was I can also make my notes and I also have the opportunity to pause or rewind the video if needed.

Week 3 the 27th or March

As usually I have started my day off with lead generation and answering my work emails. Yesterday I was supposed to see what investments will have what effect on the online simulations, however, I was very tired and decided to start today with that.

In the simulation, I focused on investing in AMZN and selling these stocks after speeding up the game. The behavior is predictable to a certain level of course based on the theories from the book and the introduction and the beginning of the game. I will continue to apply different strategies and understand the difference in behavior caused by buying a selling.

Via VF premium LinkedIn account was I looking at different interested candidates in my network and the database itself.

Since there is also not a lot I can do during the weekend, I have decided to start with myself study topic earlier. I want to focus on the languages therefore, I continue Duolingo in Spanish and try to maintain a streak, read polish news and articles and started working on my portfolio for the Honours program I am a part of.

Week 3 the 26th of March

One of my tasks was already settled for today as I still am involved in lead generation for the event postponed after the summer. I have been advised to open an ‘’stockbroker account’’ which is an online simulation used to learn the behavior of stocks by investing and buying. Also, have I been advised by my supervisor to read a book, he mentions a few titles and I searched in the online HU library and found “how to make money in stocks’’ I choose this one since I have easy access to it and after the quarantine, I can go to the library and borrow the physical book, which makes it easier to read.

The book starts with important information worth to remember such as; avoiding 19 mistakes that keep most investors from enjoying better returns. The first chapter also reflects the 7 strategies for trading forex I read earlier, which is a good sign for me being on the right path.
